Haval H6

The Haval H6 is a medium SUV available in nine variants in Australia, including a hybrid model and a sportier GT model, all for an extremely tempting price point. And with a 7-year, unlimited km warranty, it’s an attractive proposition.

The relatively new brand is growing in popularity in Australia, and the Haval H6 with its surprising list of tech including dual-clutch 7-speed transmission and lux features across the range is a compelling example of why. The H6 is also super safe with a 5-star ANCAP safety rating and fully automated parking in the Ultra model.

The Haval H6 has been compared to the BMX X4 – for around half the price.

Cupra Formentor

You may be unfamiliar with the Cupra brand, but this Spanish-born vehicle company now has three models available in Australia. The Cupra Formentor looks a little like an SUV, and a little not. It’s not for everyone, and it’s not trying to be. Globally, it’s been a big seller. The Formentor is an all-wheel-drive, and like the Haval H6 above, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, although the Formentor asks for a more premium price for its one-of-a-kind tech and styling. There are three 2.0L turbocharged petrol engines to choose from and a hybrid. Its impressive power delivery and like-no-other looks make the Cupra Formentor an excellent choice for those who dare to stand out.

SsangYong Korando

First up, did you know ‘SsangYong’ translates to ‘double dragon’ in Korean? Dive a little deeper into the up-and-coming Korean carmaker and you’ll discover treasures like the Korando – their medium SUV.

The SsangYong Korando offers exceptional value and the reassurance of a 7-year warranty. Featuring a turbo-powered engine with a turbo-diesel option, 5-star ANCAP safety and features like auto-folding mirrors and rain-sensing wipers across the range, the Korando is an undiscovered gem. It provides a fantastic option for the budget-conscious driver who doesn’t want to compromise on features.

Coming soon to Australian shores, the Korando eMotion will provide an all-electric SUV option with an affordable price tag to make the EV dream more achievable for families.

Treasure chest

Higher-end vehicles awaiting discovery.

Ineos Grenadier

The Ineos Grenadier is a 4x4 for the purist off-road driver who doesn’t want a vehicle that will fit in on the school run. Hard-core off-road capability makes this new challenger great for avid enthusiasts, handling both work and play easily. As large SUVs have trended towards creature comforts over the years, the Ineos Grenadier was born to fill the gap in the market for a truly capable, durable, and reliable 4x4, built to handle the most inhospitable places on earth.

Alpina XD3

Who says you can’t have performance with lower emissions? Based on the BMX X3, the Alpina is a diesel-hybrid designed to reduce emissions and fuel usage, while keeping the high-performance drive experience the Alpina name is known for. With a higher starting price point than the BMW X3, the Alpina XD3 retains all the premium comforts and luxuries you’d expect, with a few extras on top of the beefier engine and sportier suspension.

Buried treasure

Concept cars on the horizon.

MINI Aceman

The MINI Concept Aceman is the first-ever all-electric crossover SUV from MINI and, unsurprisingly, it’s set to be a trendsetter. The interior features knitted textile surfaces, to give you an idea of its unique design. Merging elements of the brand’s iconic Hatch and Countryman models, yet unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Highlights are the Union-Jack-shaped roof-rack and ‘winking’ LED headlights. Extremely high-tech and embracing the move to digital immersion, the Aceman production model is expected to launch in 2024.

MG Cyberster

If the idea of an all-electric open-topped sports car excites you, the latest concept car from MG may be big news. Its hyper-futuristic and fluid design will certainly get heads turning. The MG Cyberster is expected to go into mass production in 2024 (minus some of the concept model’s more out-there design features). Initial reports indicate a driving range of around 800km. Perfect for those long weekend journeys with the wind in your hair.
