Box Office EVs

Hollywood style, award-winning performance

The green screen

It's movie awards season, and we got to thinking – how could your favourite movie genre influence your EV choice?

Taking inspiration from this year's Oscar nominees, from action blockbusters and animated superheroes to journeys of self-discovery, there's an EV that’s just the right style to entertain you.

Barbie

BYD Seal

Sporty, social and smart

Although the Barbie dream car doesn’t exist outside Barbie Land, we all know Ms. Roberts is partial to a sporty drive. Sunshine beaming, great music, road-tripping with friends… that's how to have fun!

If you’re a social butterfly with a heart of gold like Barbie, why not consider Build Your Dream’s new Seal electric sedan? Its silver-plated panoramic glass roof lets in plenty of light, and the 12 speaker DYNAUDIO Sound System makes a group singalong sound even better. Plus, there’s loads of room for suitcases, shopping and sports equipment with 450L luggage capacity.

Like our heroine, it’s going places fast – the flagship Performance model reaches 0-100km/h in as little as 3.8 seconds. While it doesn’t come in pink, the Arctic Blue goes with everything and would be right at home by the beach.

Fun fact: Ken drives an EV – a GMC electric Hummer.

Past Lives

Kia EV6

Quietly unforgettable

If quiet and understated is more your style, the Kia EV6 could be perfect for you. Like the award-winning movie Past Lives, it’s a Korean charmer that will move you. Echoing the film's storyline, you’ve known Kia for what feels like forever. Could the EV6 create a new spark with its irresistible charms?

EV6's clever design makes it a compelling choice for those seeking a deeper connection. It's capable of up to 528km range, comfortable, and easy to drive with features such as one-pedal driving in i-Pedal (Intelligent Pedal) mode. But don’t underestimate its practicality – with Vehicle-to-Load you can use the EV6 to power your electrical items on the go, and its ultra-high-speed charging takes you from 10-80% in just 18 minutes.

Taking whisper-quiet operation even further, the EV6 cabin wipes out road noise so you can enjoy conversations with your partner, or sweet moments of solitude. This could be meant to be.

Napoleon

Polestar 4

A fitting chariot for an emperor

Like an infamous conquerer, Polestar’s just-released Polestar 4 SUV coupe is charismatic, powerful, and sure to be revered by many.

Just like Napoleon, it's built to conquer impressive distances, with up to 610km range in the long-range single motor option. Or if you hunger for unbridled power, the dual motor model can go 0-100km in just 3.8 seconds with up to 400kW behind you. All the while, its rear-facing HD camera enhances the monitoring of potential threats.

Royalty sometimes needs privacy, and the optional electrochromic film in the panoramic glass roof of the Polestar 4 can be activated to turn from opaque to transparent, allowing you to control daylight in the cabin. The supremely comfortable and optional massaging front seats will have you wondering – driver’s seat or throne?

The Polestar 4 is designed for a royal entourage, with plenty of head and leg room, electrically reclinable back seats, and optional tri-zone climate control. It's fit for a small army with 526 litres of storage space behind the rear seats, expandable to 1,536 litres with rear seats folded.

As the fastest production car Polestar has developed to date, it's ideal for those on the march.

Spiderman

Tesla Model Y

An American origin story

One American hero was born of a radioactive spider bite. The other, a product of one man’s fervent desire to bring compelling EVs to the market; and each new release is a blockbuster.

Tesla made the EV mould – and broke it with the Model Y. Where some might think of EVs as frugal and compact, the Model Y has a huge 2,100L of rear cargo space (plus room to stow more than a costume change up front), as well as up to 1,600kg towing capacity.

Like Spider-Man, Tesla is a master of gliding through air space. It pioneered over-the-air (OTA) software updates, enabling regular deployment via Wi-Fi of new features, performance improvements, and safety updates.

It'll keep the kids (both big and small) entertained via Tesla Theatre (Netflix and YouTube) and Tesla Arcade games. And of course, its auto-pilot and self-driving technologies expand the possibilities of human biology.

Given Spider-Man favours a unique mode of travel with a low carbon footprint, we think he’d appreciate the Model Y. It’s designed for drivers seeking a sense of the fantastical. And yes, it’s available in red.
